E. Amanda Dellinger, Ed.S., M.S. is a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC) with the State of Georgia and National Certified Counselor (NCC) who’s goal centers around empowering our future. She earned a Master of Science degree in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University, as well as an Education Specialist degree in Professional Counseling from GSU where she specialized in child/adolescent populations. As part of her educational and post-graduate experience, Amanda has been working directly with clients under supervision since August of 2006.
Throughout graduate school, Amanda has worked with children and adolescents providing individual, group, and family therapy services. Amanda gained valuable experience providing counseling services, volunteering as a group facilitator, tutoring, mentoring, and completing her internship and residency requirements for graduate school. Amanda’s past internship opportunity at Peachford Behavioral Health Systems and includes working with school-aged children and adolescents, adults with developmental and emotional difficulties, and their families. While at Peachford her responsibilities included conducting individual psychosocial assessments, leading process groups for patients with a variety of disorders and addictions, and facilitating family sessions to create an agreeable discharge plan with her clients. This valuable experience was a training ground for identifying complex problems, and the family systems that enable maladaptive behaviors. Through these experiences Amanda found that she relate easily and openly with all ages and types of people though she has taken a special interest in child and adolescent populations. The completion of her residency at Murphy-Harpst Children’s Center further highlighted a passion of working with children who through no fault of their own have faced some of life’s most challenging circumstances in cases of abuse, trauma, or neglect.
In addition for her formal educational training, Ms. Dellinger is certified facilitator of Good Touch / Bad Touch Sexual Abuse prevention program and Rainbows Grief Support Program for children. Amanda holds certifications as a Certified Trauma Specialist (CTS) through The National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children and has extensive training in expressive arts therapy, especially play therapy. In addition, she is also both a Certified Anger Management Specialist (CAMS) through the Anger Management Institute and a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist through the Grief Recovery Institute. Amanda is a trained facilitator for the RAINBOWS Grief Support Program for Children. Driven by her passion to help others, Amanda is committed to keeping up on the most current interventions and skills that can be used in her field by continuing to attend advanced training, seminars and workshops.
In 2009, Amanda joined the Sexual Assault Center of Northwest GA as a volunteer for their community outreach and education prevention programs. In this setting she helps educate schools and bring awareness to the community on issues of sexual assault and violence.
Her clinical background includes self-acceptance and awareness based work with individuals with anxiety disorders, depression, grief/bereavement/loss, trauma, abuse/neglect, stress management, divorce/blended family issues, anger management, , adjustment difficulties in children/families, conflict resolution, and family/relationship issues. Each of Ms. Dellinger’s clients receives individualized care uniquely tailored to their culture, life situation, and treatment goals. She utilizes a strength-based approach to therapy incorporating humanistic, interpersonal, Adlerian, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and mindfulness modalities. Her emphasis is on helping children and adolescents function more effectively and confidently while learning how to cope with the constant struggles of growing up. Amanda works with the firm belief that with therapeutic awareness, empowerment, and motivation, each individual has the potential to not only heal and reach their goals, but to truly thrive.
Amanda joined the Therapeutic Associates, LLC in 2009 where she provides individual, group and play therapy for children and adolescents, and support services for their families. She is committed to helping your child or teen function more effectively and confidently while learning how to cope with the constant struggles of growing up. Amanda assesses each client and helps them work through their struggles effectively at their own pace, while using their own strengths.
Ms. Dellinger works under the direction and supervision of a counseling psychologist, Dr. Rebecca Beaton, LPC of Atlanta, GA.
