Change is not something that happens to us. Change is something we do. It requires courage to take the necessary risks. It often requires insight and new awareness. Change requires the ability, courage and skills necessary to see things we have seen a thousand times before, in a new way. It requires becoming responsible for ourselves and having the motivation to do so. It requires the persistence of practicing and applying new ways of thinking and behaving even when uncomfortable to do so.
Groups are often a good place to practice all of this. Participation in a group can help make permanent the changes that are desired to improve life. In addition, groups are a good place to receive and give the encouragement and support that all human beings need to make changes real and lasting.
Group Counseling provides help in individual and interpersonal adjustment through discussion and activities with other children and adolescents with similar experiences and goals.
In order to be a member of the group, each member must agree to keep group discussions and activities confidential.
"What I received from being in group was that I was not so much alone any more. I was in many ways just like other people. What a relief! I became less ashamed and did not need to hide. I experienced being accepted. I received support and was able to give support to others. We were able to share what worked for us and try it out. We even practiced in group. My confidence grew and it showed in my life outside of group. I began to live."

A Teenage Girls’ Support and Process Group
Imagine being part of a circle, a safe space where you can tell the truth without fear of judgment, criticism, or rejection. A place where your heart softens and you feel accepted and accepting. A place where you feel free to share your feelings, work through conflicts, and experience that you are not alone. Therapeutic Associates, LLC is pleased to offer such a place with the introduction of “Teen Talking Circles,” an experiential, therapeutic support group for teen girls. This group is intended to guide teen girls in their journey of self-exploration, help them explore who they want to become, and help them find their voice in society. Teen Talking Circles are designed to give young women an opportunity to strengthen their self-esteem, and feelings of self-worth, stay true to themselves, act on their values, make wise, resilient, and healthy choices, create new definitions of beauty, respect and appreciate their bodies, listen to their intuition, voice their thoughts and opinions responsibly, and practice speaking and listening from their hearts and standing up for what they feel, think, see and know. Through art therapy, psycho drama, and therapeutic discussions, the group will encourage members to explore and process current life stressors, interpersonal relationships, develop healthy coping skills, and increase self confidence.
